Showtime developing new season of lesbian drama The L Word

Among the cavalcade of old shows being resuscitated for new seasons - Will & Grace, Roseanne, Curb Your Enthusiasm - comes yet another.

The L Word !!!!

The L Word the series about West Hollywood lesbians that aired its finale in 2009, has a seventh season percolating at Showtime, per The Hollywood Reporter.

Original creator Ilene Chaiken won't be the showrunner owing to the fact she's already showrunning Empire at FOX but she will be executive producing the new season.

Other executive producers on season seven would be Leisha Hailey, Kate Moenning and Jennifer Beals, all of whom had starred in the original sixth seasons.

The main cast of The L Word, which began on Showtime in 2004, had also included Mia Kirshner, Laurel Holloman and Pam Grier, who were also all on all six seasons.

Leisha, Kate and Jennifer will, however, be 'connecting with a new ensemble' in the prospective sequel seasons, to quote the phrasing in The Hollywood Reporter.
