Kobe Is Calling It Quits

This will be Kobe Brant's final season.  The NBA star's big announcement is crashing the internet.
During the 2012 Olympics, Lakers star Kobe Bryant made it known that would likely be his last and final Olympics.  The announcement led folks to believe  It looks like he's sticking to that thought.  Tonight, the 37-year-old legend-in-the-making announced that this 2015-2016 NBA season will be his last.
In a poem called 'Dear Basketball,' written on The Players Tribune, Kobe professed his love for the game of basketball saying:
I played through the sweat and hurt
Not because challenge called meBut because YOU called me.I did everything for YOUBecause that’s what you doWhen someone makes you feel asAlive as you’ve made me feel.
Then, he broke the news with his next words:
You gave a six-year-old boy his Laker dream
And I’ll always love you for it.But I can’t love you obsessively for much longer. This season is all I have left to give.My heart can take the poundingMy mind can handle the grindBut my body knows it’s time to say goodbye.
He continued:
And that’s OK.
I’m ready to let you go.I want you to know nowSo we both can savor every moment we have left together. The good and the bad.We have given each otherAll that we have.
Needless to say, the announcement crashed their site earlier.
Kobe has had a hell of a career, 5 championship rings, 2 Gold medals, 3 total MVPs, 17 All-Star games and 20 years in the game to show for it.  Hats off to one of the best players to ever play the game.  We're sure his last season will be the most emotional and memorable one yet. #MambaOut

Meet 2015 SPORTSKID OF THE YEAR Reece Whitley

The new issue was unveiled this morning as Reece Whitley himself appeared on "Good Morning America."  What we're most impressed about?  He already is actively taking on the responsibility of changing the statistics surrounding black children and swimming.
When asked how he felt about stats that say over 70% of black children cannot swim (and the dangerous situations that can lead to), he said that he knows he will need to do create ways to change that.
We believe his presence itself in the swimming world is a start!
Reece is currently in trials to compete for a spot on Team  USA for the 2016 Olympics, and we have total faith that he's a shoe-in for the job.  His stats so far are the reason why:

...the sophomore at William Penn Charter School has won a junior national championship and holds five individual national age-group records in the pool, where he has become one of the top young swimmers in the country. His times in the 100- and 200-meter breaststroke last year qualified him to compete at the 2016 U.S. Olympic Trials this June in Omaha, Nebraska. He’s also become a role model for young swimmers in his community and wherever he travels.
For his talent, humility, and willingness to mentor younger athletes in his sport, Reece Whitley is the 2015 Sports Illustrated Kids SportsKid of the Year.

Interestingly, Reece's first love was basketball and he still loves it.  Even after being able to dunk by 13, he switched his focus to swimming.  He says he thanks his mom for putting him in swim lessons after he failed a few swim tests when !

Rapper Future Diva Demands...

Future needs his donuts. If he doesn't have piles of white powder in his dressing room, he is not a happy camper.
The rapper demands 'fresh white powdered' doughnuts before every show, according to TMZ.
The site obtained the 32-year-old's tour rider, with demands so specific they almost register on the diva scale.

The documents also reveal the Jumpman hitmaker makes $150,000 for a 45 minute show - or $3,333 per minute.
Despite earning $200k an hour, the father of four has other demands, beside his considerable paycheque.
The list includes four bottles of Ace of Spades, the gold bottled Champagne favoured by rappers, which collectively would cost in the region on $1,400.
Because one brand of champers is never enough, he also insists on having bottles of Moet to hand too.

And in case he and his crew fancy something a little stiffer, that other celeb staple Ciroc, famously represented by his recent collaborator Puff Daddy, must also be ready to pour as well
In terms of food, Future demands there be chicken fingers, cheddar popcorn and broccoli.
And in a diva move that would impress Mariah Carey, his doughnuts can not be any old random torus of fried dough: they must be the 'fresh white powdered' versions.
And to ensure there is no Future tense, Future decrees that his dressing room be equipped with scented candles - but only the 'lemon grass' kind.

The rider was obtained from a show Future performed back in December, so his tastes - and pricetag - may have changed since then.

Jennifer Hudson & Cynthia Erivo promote The Color Purple role in New York City

Jennifer wore a form-fitting, sleeveless pink dress, which cinched in at her waist to highlight the star's trim figure.

The flattering number also featured a thigh-high slit up the front, which put the singer's toned pins on display.
She coupled the chic dress with a pair of coordinating pink pumps, and covered up with a fuzzy, soft pink jacket that fell to her mid-thigh.

On Good Morning America she joined her The Color Purple co-star Cynthia Erivo, who looked lovely in a white, blazer dress with black buttons. The pair were joined by Robin Roberts as they discussed the show - currently in previews - which happens to be Jennifer's first experience on Broadway.
Jennifer gushed about the 'beautiful experience' working on the show, saying she was 'having such an amazing time.'

'I feel like I'm in theater school right now. I'm learning as much as I can, and I have been blessed to work with all of these beautiful people,' she added.

The musical is based on the 1982 Pulitzer Prize-winning novel by Alice Walker, and shows the early-20th century plight of African Americans in the southern United States.
Robin commented that while the movie and Alice Walker novel were 30 years old, the issues were still relevant.
Jennifer agreed, noting: 'I think that's why a movie like The Color Purple can transition to a play and still be here today, because it's reality. It's what's real, and that's timeless.'

The talented women also treated the audience to a performance of the Broadway show's title song, The Color Purple.
Opening night for the show, which also stars Orange is the New Black's Danielle Brooks, is December 10.
